WHO WE ARE

Davenport Noon Optimist Club is proud to serve Quad City youth.

Our club, chartered in 1940, is one of Iowa's oldest established Optimist Clubs. We provide financial assistance and recognition during programs designed to improve lives.

We raise over $150,000 annually through our two largest fundraisers, the Avenue of Flags program and Christmas tree sales.

Although we are part of an international organization, we govern independently. We determine which projects to complete, which organizations to support and how funding is distributed.
We are fortunate to have a nonprofit foundation that will continue our legacy for generations.

We gather for weekly luncheons and invite speakers to introduce their programs and explain how those programs improve the lives of area youth.

The luncheons offer the opportunity to network and build relationships with other members of the community.

We volunteer at events and activities that boost young people's confidence because giving time to help improve others makes a difference.

We meet socially because we love having fun together and enjoy the opportunities created through this fellowship of proactive people with positive mindsets.

What began as a memorial fund is now the Optimist Club Foundation of Davenport.

The Foundation is a 501c(3) entity dedicated to financial maintenance and growth earmarked for supporting Quad Cities' youth.

Contact a board member for more information about our local programs or to donate.

Promise Awards
Two students from each Davenport public high school are recognized by school staff each year for living a lifestyle consistent with the principles in our Optimist creed, regardless of academic performance.

EXPLORE THE INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION

We strive to build a diverse organization of motivated volunteers.

Since each Optimist club governs itself, Optimists have valuable flexibility to immediately address the needs that arise with the youth in our community. Through our fundraising efforts, we support many local organizations.

OPTIMIST CREED
Promise Yourself…
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
Optimist International volunteers aid over six million young people through 65,000 service projects that promote teamwork and inclusion.
